H e l l o.

I'm Jen and this is my little piece of cyber-space.

I'm a Bluestocking who navigates the writing world somewhere between speculative fiction & magical realism. I re-imagine mythology, stitch gentle landscapes and garden in my floral print Wellies.

I'm a Southern Writer and Folk Artist who enjoys retelling fairy tales and folklore and rambling about graveyards, herb gardens, libraries and creaky old bookshops. When I'm not writing, you can usually find me reading, sewing, playing with clay, drinking tea, herding cats, trying to grow herbs in my sun deprived courtyard or watching something set in Middle Earth. I collect lovely little things, odd things, bits of leaf and twig, things from woodland realms and sandcastles. I'm an herb child, barefoot path wanderer, woman who runs with wolves and  kneader of dough. I believe in magic and think that aprons are just capes made practical.

I invite you to share your stories with me: memories of the past, dreams for the future, the teacup in the attic, the box of old shoes that's moved with you eighteen times. For that's what we writers do: we gather stories and give them wings. Life is simple and beautiful. It is filled with lovely, little things that are easily overlooked if we aren't paying attention. I invite you also to look deeper into your own journey, explore the places you've been, where you are and where you long to go.

Gather up your courage now, Dear Hearts. It's time to begin.

Dum spiro spero
While I breathe, I hope.

Well, hello! I'm so glad you made it. Come inside and sit by the hearth. I'll take your coat and hat. The kettle is singing and there's cake and candles and good conversation. Settle in and make yourself at home. Don't mind the wolfhounds; they're friendly if you give them a bit of lemon curd.
