I'm Jen Chandler, a writer and artist living the Deep South.
Coming from a long line of creative individuals, I knew my life would lead me into a creative career. It wasn't until my early 40's that I discovered just what that career could look like. I've been everything from an animal hospital assistant to bookseller to office manager to a tree removal company. I've worked in Atlanta high-rises and Metro-Atlanta herb shops. I've sang in night clubs and honky-tonks, interviewed with an executive from Warner Brothers' Records and traveled alone to India for 2 weeks to visit a friend. I've done calligraphy for friends' wedding invitations, made pottery for my cats, taught myself bookbinding and even took a class in Samurai sword-fighting. Along the way, I've learned what I love and what I don't, what works for me and what doesn't. I've collected a lot of experiences and things; I've given many away and curated the rest. I've developed different styles and tastes and dabbled in many different art forms.
It took a 10 year health battle to lead me to my current path. With the right professionals and treatment I've been able to manage my challenges and get back to "myself", a person that I thought had been lost and buried under chronic pain and agoraphobia. Once uncovered, I discovered that there were passions inside me I'd long thought were passing thoughts and fickle dreams. Those passions re-emerged with vengeance and push me every morning to be the very best version of myself, to learn as much about the industries I hope to work in, and to take care of myself physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
I'm very happy you've found your way to my personal blog. It's undergone many, many evolutions. It's current state is one of exploration and discovery : of myself, my passions of folk art, books, tea and all things British. There will also be photos of my cats, my gardens, and any thrifting expeditions my husband and I embark upon (including but not limited to dirt road ramblings and back woods bargaining.)
